Tamron has announced two new, fixed-focal length standard lenses with fast f/1.8 apertures, the SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD and SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD.
Both the SP 35mm and SP 45mm Tamron lenses will be available in Canon and Nikon mounts from October 2015, with a Sony-mount version to be announced at a later date.
The Tamron SP 35mm F/1.8 Di VC USD (Model F012) incorporates a 10-element, 9-group construction, utilising two molded glass aspherical elements, one LD (Low Dispersion) and one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) element.
Meanwhile, the Tamron SP 45mm F/1.8 Di VC USD (Model F013) boasts a 10-element, 8-group construction, utilizing two molded glass aspherical elements and one LD (Low Dispersion) element.
Tamron also claims the 35mm f/1.8 and 45mm lenses offer ‘best-in-class’ close-focusing capability with a Minimum Object Distance (MOD) of 0.2m (7.9in) and MOD 0.29m (11.4in), respectively.
Tamron also says the lenses have been optimised so that the overall illumination level across the entire field is well balanced, leading to less vignetting.
Both lenses also feature eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coatings.
The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 and SP 45mm f/1.8 price tags were not available at the time of writing.
